Located in Chun'an County, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Qiandao Lake (Thousand Island Lake) is a national 5A-level tourist attraction. Covering 573 square kilometers with 1,078 islands and over 90% forest coverage, its water quality meets China's highest standard. Known for "thousand islands, pristine waters, and golden shorelines", it forms a unique landscape blending mountains and lakes.

History and Culture

The lake was created in 1959 with the construction of Xin'an River Dam, submerging two ancient cities dating back to Eastern Han Dynasty. The area has long been a cultural crossroads between Huizhou and Jiangnan traditions, leaving rich folk heritage.

Since the 1980s, it developed into an ecotourism destination. Designated among China's first 4A-level sites in 2001, it upgraded to 5A in 2010. Over 30 preserved historical buildings showcase perfect harmony between Huizhou architecture and water town styles.
